چکیده

Background and objectives: Reduction of weight improves different manifestations polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This study compared the effects liraglutide plus metformin versus alone on loss metabolic profiles in obese women with PCOS. Methods: open-label randomized controlled clinical trial consecutively recruited newly-diagnosed PCOS patients reproductive age obesity (body mass index ≥ 27.5 kg/m2). Following randomization into two equal groups, Group-1 received treatment 1000 mg daily while Group-2 was given subcutaneous (SC) 1.2 for 12 weeks. Anthropometric, biochemical hormonal data ovarian morphology were assessed at baseline after Clinical information side recorded every four weeks initiation treatment. Glucose, lipids, all hormones analyzed by glucose oxidase, precipitation method, chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay respectively. Insulin resistance measured homeostatic model assessment (HOMA-IR). Results: Study included 30 participants comprising 15 each group. Among participants, 5 dropped out from 1 Group-2. The final analysis done among 24 (Gr-1: 10 Gr-2: 14). Waist hip circumference (WC, HC) significantly (p <0.05) decreased treated only metformin. Menstrual irregularity, BMI index), HC, systolic blood pressure (BP), 2h-OGTT glucose, fasting insulin, HOMA-IR < 0.05) to status. Percentage changes weight, improved cases than those Group-1. Side though numerically higher patients, but reduced time. Conclusions: Addition superior lowering insulin acceptable effects. IMC J Med Sci. 2024; 18(1):002. P-162: Body Mass Index and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Women

Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrinology problems of infertile women. Since lifestyle modification and weight loss is the most effective treatment and associated with failure in many cases, this study evaluated the factors impact on weight loss of PCOS women. Materials and Methods: This cross- sectional study was conducted on 150 infertile women of ...

Short-term combined treatment with liraglutide and metformin leads to significant weight loss in obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome and previous poor response to metformin

OBJECTIVE The effect of metformin on weight reduction in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is often unsatisfactory. In this study, we investigated the potential add-on effect of treatment with the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist liraglutide on weight loss in obese nondiabetic women with PCOS who had lost <5% body weight during pretreatment with metformin. METHODS A total of 40 obese w...

Metformin as an initial adjunct to low-dose liraglutide enhances the weight-decreasing potential of liraglutide in obese polycystic ovary syndrome: Randomized control study

Liraglutide (LIRA) treatment is associated with the dose-dependent reduction of weight. Higher doses are more effective than lower doses, although higher doses are also more poorly tolerated. Metformin may enhance the weight-lowering potential of LIRA via the stimulatory modulation of incretin in addition to its direct beneficial effects in PCOS. The aim of the present study was to evaluate whe...

Short-term effectiveness of low dose liraglutide in combination with metformin versus high dose liraglutide alone in treatment of obese PCOS: randomized trial

BACKGROUND Liraglutide 3 mg was recently approved as an anti-obesity drug. Metformin is weight neutral, yet it could enhance the therapeutic index of GLP-1 agonist. We compared weight-lowering potential of liraglutide 1.2 mg in combination with metformin to liraglutide 3 mg monotherapy in obese PCOS. METHODS Thirty obese women with PCOS (aged 33.1 ± 6.1 years, BMI 38.3 ± 5.4 kg/m2) were rando...
